Testcontainers, Vitest, pytest
An example content service serves the same screens through two deliberate data boundaries. Docker SSR reads PostgreSQL, while a static host builds pages from the /api/export snapshot captured at delivery time. Forcing b…
Content initialization is one ordered pipeline: create tables, correct the schema, seed static data, and upsert notes and courses. Even idempotent steps can observe an intermediate state when an operator double-clicks o…
Building an image does not prove that users can use a healthy path. Bind the tested commit to the running image and run a real DB-reading smoke after readiness.
If an integration test cannot create its schema but continues into entity tests, the delayed failures lose the original cause. A missing migration directory, zero SQL files, a read error, or one failed statement is a bo…
Implementation and completion are different decisions. Connect questions from product, design, engineering, users, and operations to a test or a record so another person can reproduce the conclusion.
In an admin app with dozens of pages and hundreds of API routes, the most common E2E mistake is forgetting to add a new route to the spec. Instead of hand-maintaining spec files, derive a route manifest from the filesys…
Separate unit, integration, browser, and production smoke checks, then assign Vitest, pytest, Cypress, and Playwright without duplicating responsibilities.
GitHub Actions puts CI/CD inside the GitHub repository. It went into beta in 2018 and moved to GA in 2019.
Vitest is a testing framework that grew out of the Vite ecosystem. It keeps a similar grain to Jest while handling ESM, TypeScript, and watch mode more lightly.
Testing code that depends on external systems like a DB, Redis, or Kafka usually splits into two paths. We either mock the dependency, or we boot a real instance and verify against it. Testcontainers is the library that…
The word "observability" tends to suggest rolling out a full stack, but introducing a full stack from a small system makes operational cost outpace value pretty quickly.
